"Ojos in d'House": Nigerian Sitcom about the Jeffersons, with Fart Jokes

Ojos in d' House
is a Nigerian sitcom about a noveau-riche family culture-clashing with their snooty neighbors.  Sounds derivative, and there won't be any gay characters -- Nigeria was listed as the #1 most dangerous country for LGBT people -- but maybe some unintentional subtexts.  And I'm interested in seeing how Nigeria adapts the distinctively American sitcom format.

Opening credits:  Everyone gathers for a family photo and displays their primary character trait.

1.  Butler Bitris (Bassey Ekpenyong, top photo) dusting the furniture.

2.  Adult daughter, wearing glasses, a huge book open on her lap.

3. Dad Tafaa (Jude Chukwuka) counting money.

4. Teenage or young adult son Samuel (Taiwo Arimoro) reading Bikini Patrol magazine.

5-6. Two middle aged women who look alike, maybe sisters.

Scene 1:  Eagle Ridge Country Club.  Samuel tries to impress a girl by claiming to have written all of Justin Bieber's songs and offering to give her demo tape to a famous comedian, Bovi Ugboma.  Sister scoffs.  He approaches a table full of guys, and gets thrown out.  I don't understand why.

Scene 2: Samuel in the drunk tank, even though he's not drunk.  Fellow inmate DeBoy explains that he urinated on cars in the parking lot to protest the fliers put under windshield wipers.

Scene 3: The deluxe apartment in the sky.  Dad comes home to find Mom Elizabeth staring out the window, spying on the neighbors.  Mr. Okon is urinating into his car's gas tank. Two urination stories in five minutes?

Elizabeth has been watching out for Bovi, who lives in the building; she wants to invite him to dinner, so Samuel can give him the demo tapes of his "clients" and tell him the "elephant with diarrhea" joke.  Dad points out that Bovi moved here for the peace and quiet, not to be hounded by people trying to give him material.  Dad leaves the apartment wearing sandals, which elicits major laughs.  I don't understand why.

Scene 4: In the kitchen, preparing for Bovi's arrival by making a cake and practicing the "elephant with diarrhea" joke (actually a riddle that is too disgusting to repeat here).  Mom is overcome by its hilarity: "If you need to tell a joke to save your life, that's the one."

When Mom leaves, Sister scoffs: "I can't believe you're doing all this just to impress a girl."Wait -- Mom said "clients."  Is he trying to become a talent agent, or not?  Samuel retaliates by threatening to tear up her science magazine, leading to hostage crisis gags.

Scene 5: Samuel with a cake, knocking on Bovi's door (they haven't actually issued the invitation yet?).  A threatening, scary dude answers, intimidating Samuel so much that he flubs the "elephant with diarrhea" joke. Then he slams the door (but comes back for the cake).

Scene 6:  Back home, Mom reads in the paper that Bovi is headed to London for a show, so they won't have a chance to invite him to dinner or give him the demo tape, unless they act fast!

Scene 7:
Samuel knocks on Bovi's door, then runs away.  A second time.  The third time, the threatening, scary dude (Udeme Bassey) is waiting, and chases him down the hall.  While they are occupied, Elizabeth sneaks in, puts the demo tape on a table, and takes some selfies (of her in an empty apartment?).

She has to hide as Bovi (playing himself) comes in: "I hope Musty hasn't gone out bare-chested again.  If any women faint this time, I'm not assisting with the hospital bills!"  As he walks around the apartment, Elizabeth has to avoid being seen, resulting in gags about bad-smelling shoes and using the toilet while Elizabeth is hiding in the shower (he narrates, describing the action in disgusting detail.  I'm sure he would be thrilled by the elephant joke).

Next he decides to take a shower!  He turns on the water, but before he can disrobe, Dad calls and invites him to dinner.   He accepts.  All of these machinations for nothing!

Scene 8:
Back home, Dad just getting off the phone with Bovi. Samuel comes in, hears about the dinner invitation, and rushes out.  Meanwhile, a soaking wet Elizabeth tries to escape, but has to hide in the bedroom closet as Musty and Bovi come in.  They see the wet footprints: "It must be another naked stalker who took a shower."

They pretend that they're going to attack whoever is hiding in the closet with a taser that causes "excessive flatulence," forcing Elizabeth to show herself and beg for mercy.

Scene 9: Dad opens the door to a grinning Bovi and a contrite Elizabeth in a towel.  "Guess who I found in my wardrobe?  When will dinner be ready?" Another joke about defecation.  The end.

Beefcake: No.

Other Sights: All interiors.

Gay Characters: Bovi and Musty behave like a gay couple, obviously unintentionally.  I assume Musty is a bodyguard or personal assistant.

The Two Women Who Look Alike:  #1 is Elizabeth.  #2 does not appear.

Defecation Jokes:  More than I ever wanted to hear.  Everybody poops; it's a fact of life.  Mentioning that it occurs is not necessarily hilarious.  Especially the 15th time in 23 minutes.
