Newcastle, Wyoming: A Guilty Pleasure

Newcastle, Wyoming, a town of 3,000 near the Black Hills of South Dakota, advertises itself as a "nice little town" where "we still believe in the AMERICAN DREAM."  No doubt they also believe in Making America Great Again, which makes me feel guilty about finding their muscular abs attractive.

It's the home of state representative Hans Hunt, who told a minister concerned about a "bring your gun anywhere" bill: "if you don't like it, by all means, leave."   No "out of state liberals" allowed in Wyoming.  I feel guilty about finding him attractive, too.

It's got no decent bookstores or art galleries, and the only museum is strictly for kids.  So why do I like the old-time cowboy Main Street, with the "Dogie" theater, the Antlers Hotel, a little city park, and a very distinctive county courthouse?

I definitely feel guilty about liking Donna's Main Street Diner, where "good friends meet for great food," and there are patriotism signs and Bible verses posted everywhere.  You've never had an omelet like this before.

There was only one attractive swimmer amid the women and children of the local YMCA swim team.  I'll bet he's a LDS Trumpite who is horrified by the idea of gay people existing.  Nice pecs, though.

A Newcastle High School wrestler being pinned by his opponent.  They grow them cute in Wyoming.  Cute and conservative, a regrettable combination.

Guys in hammocks.  No doubt on their way to shoot some animals.

Sigh.  I wonder if there are any job openings at the Newcastle Crossfit.
