In Search of the Headless Wrestler

This wrestler who has no head is either"Aaron Bancroft" from North Carolina or "Trevor Mansfield" from South Carolina.

Why no head?  Did they think they were displaying everything important about the athlete?

And is he from the north or the south?

We have to identify him only by his singlet and physique.



Ok, here's Aaron Bancroft from North Carolina (see the state map on his chest).

Guess what -- not a college student.  he goes to Fike High School in Wilson, North Carolina, near Raleigh, where he also plays football.












And does modeling.

He is Native American.

He comes from a long line of wrestlers and wrestling coaches.  His brother, George Bancroft IV, is an Olympic calibre athlete attending the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.












Ok, here's Trevor.  I can't find any more shirtless or singlet photos, except from when he was a kid.  He just graduated from BHP,  Belton Honea-Path, a high school serving Belton and Honea-Path, South Carolina.  The mascot is the Belton Honea Bear (is that like a honey bear?).

Honea Path, South Carolina, population 3,500, is near Andersonville, in the northern part of the state.  As far as I can tell, there's nothing to do there except be Baptist and go to the Obediah Shirley House.







Belton, South Carolina, population 4,500, is known for its Standpipe, a 155-foot concrete tower that can hold 165,000 gallons of water.  There's an annual Standpipe festival, which, I must admit, sounds interesting.

It also hosts the South Carolina Palmetto Tennis Championships.

Trevor is now attending Newberry College.  I figured it was affiliated with the Newberry Library.  Actually, it's a Lutheran college (ELCA) in Newberry, South Carolina, founded in 1828, ranked #16 in colleges in the South.
