The Clover High School Swim Team in Clover, South Carolina arranges its photos by class. I thought it would be interesting to look at them in order, to see how our bodies changes as we move through what my high school health class called "The Miracle of Adolescence," from childish to adult physiques.
For comparison only; obviously these guys are not of romantic interest to adults.
1. Seventh and eighth graders (12-14 year olds). Childhood baby fat on both sides.
2. Freshmen (14-15 year olds). We see a little of the thinness we expect with adult physiques, but not a lot of muscle bulk.
3. Sophomores (15-16 years old). Sorry about the girls in the way.
Definitely some chest and shoulder development, but the traps leave a lot to be desired.
4. Juniors (16-17 years old). Only one junior boy on the team. Traps are coming in, and there's more pec development. I could see fixing him up with my nephew.
5. Seniors (17-18 years old). Only one senior boy, too. Nice-sized arms and shoulders, developed pecs. An adult physique.
